Gonna Try This Again…

I have totally forsaken this space.  Between Facebook, Tumblr and the occasional tweet Vox fell by the waste side.  I'm going to try to pick up the momentum…cause I really do like it here!

Thanksgiving 2009

Hoping my Vox family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I had a very employable day.  We ate fabulous food, walked around Thanks – Giving Square and checked out the famous Neiman Marcus holiday window display in Downtown Dallas which has a "Innovations in Energy" theme this year – beautiful!

Even though T is 20, I still do educational things with her so me, T and my BFF checked out Bodies: The Exhibition. Even though it was against the rules…. I snuck pictures with my iphone.  We all learned a lot!

Life updates in bullets…

  • Had surgery two weeks ago…. something that I had to put on the back burner while I battled cancer last year (I won by the way!)  Anyhoo, I'm back to normal activities – lost some weight and quality life improved.
  • Work.is.work. I'm employed and blessed.
  • T moved out.  My 1 AM curfew wasn't late enough and I guess she was tired of following my rules. Whateves, when you grown its time to move on.  House feels odd though… like too big.  I will deal.  Just wish she she would stop asking me for money.
  • Got a new car, although my Mercedes was an 08 and I didn't need one.  Go the new Jaguar XF.  I really love it! The designer designed the Aston Martin.. so it looks like one LOL.  Had to order a white one.  It came in when I was recovering from surgery and couldn't drive for 2 weeks – yesterday was the first day I got to drive it.
  • Been following a lot of local jazz bands…. going to performances and such…. that's my new thing now.
  • If you on twitter.. hit me up.  I'm "hopluv" there too.
  • About to start planning my Xmas vacay.  I think I'm going solo this year….unless you want to go with me :).

Back from the Yucatan Pennisula

New additions… and other ramblins

We have added two new additions to the family!  I rescued an Italian Greyhound a little bit over a week ago.  We are calling him Bellini.

He is a total lap dog, must be held all the time.  We love him!

The other new addition is of the automotive type….  We got a Smart Car!!!!!!!  I have been wanting one since seeing them during a vacation to Rome, Italy in 2006.  So when they announced they would be coming to the US back in 2007 – I reserved one immediately.  Post about it here and here when mine arrived in August 08 the timing wasn't right to buy it as I was preparing my finances to purchase a home….. which ended up being Foxy (loves her!), so I told them to go ahead and sell to the next customer on the waiting list.

Well, I took T's car in for an oil change and was told her Land Rover needed a major break overhaul.  EVERYTHING for a Land Rover is expensive!  EVERYTHING!!  A freakin light bulb cost $40.00 to replace – no, I'm not joking!  It was cheaper to just buy a damn new car than replace the brakes LMAO!  Beside the fact its an SUV and she spends a lot of money on gas between two jobs and school.   So, we decided to go with a new car for her.   Picked it up last Monday.  It gets 45 mpg and LOTs of attention, which she loves 🙂

Since they are made by Mercedes the dealerships are together – makes it convenient to get both our cars serviced at the same time – except her car only needs an oil change once a year!  Can't say that about my Mercedes Benz *tongue in cheek* ….

Here it is:

Black leather heat seats, panoramic roof, ipod integration and cute as a button!

Ramblins:

  • Completed my final Herceptin treatment on 6/5.  Done with ALL breast cancer treatment!  Back to life.
  • Started a oil painting class last Thursday.  Something I have always wanted to do.  I can sketch and use to be really good :)  put painting was a discipline I never learned but always wanted to.  I've been wanting contemporary/modern pieces for the house and haven't really been able to find what I want, or if I do the price is the cost of a small island.  So, I figured I would learn how to create my own works of art.
  • Its hot as HELL in Dallas, TX on this day in the year 2009.

Memorial Day Holiday 2009

  • I'm still celebrating Memorial Day!  In the home of the rat/rat town AKA Orlando, FL.  One of my favorite places to satisfy my Mickey collecting addiction.  T and I got in from the Bahamas via Port Canaveral yesterday morning after cruising since last Sunday.  We had a phenomenal time on the cruise.  It was our first time cruising, so didn't really know what to expect – it exceeded our expectations!
  • Visited Freeport and Nassau – Freeport was nice, however not a lot going on.  Nassau on the other hand, was fabulous.  The people of the Bahamas are extremely friendly and hospitable.   We had conch fritters – yum!
  • We did an excursion in Nassau where you go through trails and paths on a Segway, talking about a fun time!!! I initially thought I was going to have issues and was intimidated when I got my lesson before we started by the instructor because I couldn't get the balance thing down – but, after rolling around on the practice track for awhile I got the hang of it.  We were on them for two hours and by the end I was riding with no hands!  Our Segway excursion mates,  were two Carnival Cruise Line employees – She(from Serbia) was a information officer and he (from London) was one of the entertainment emcee – we had a blast with them!
  • I've taken over 400 photos so far and we have 2 more days until we return home.  Some highlights:

I Got A New Puppy!

Puppy requires no food or water, does not pee or poop, no barking, no vet bills and he doesn't need any exercise or attention.  I can even drag him by the collar without the threat of animal cruelty charges.  He's the perfect dog!

I got him a new collar w/matching leash from Ikea.  Isn't he adorable?

Here and There’s…

  • Happy Easter everyone!  It's been some time since I did a regular post.  I've lost the motivation to post here, there and everywhere!  Coupled with, the recent move into the new house and the demands of work… the thrill to post has left the building.
  • Speaking of the new house!  LOVES IT!  I've been in "Foxy" for about a month and half, I ended up closing on birthday on Mar 2nd.  What a gift to myself right?  Getting 30 years in debt lol.  Whateves!  I am SO BLESSED to be in a position to buy a home in this economy.  T and I are settling in nicely.  I figured out pretty much how all the systems work, with the exception of HVAC – still tinkering with those settings to find a comfortable temperature for each floor.  It took Time Warner Cable about five visits to stabilize the internet *sighs* and because its a new house in a new phase of the community it took AT&T two trips, the first visit lasting about six hours to complete the phone installation.
  • Been thinking about getting a new puppy – Mini Schnauzer or Italian Greyhound.  The only turn off is I don't feel like house breaking it!  So, I might go with an older dog that's already trained.  But, they aren't as fun – and they don't have puppy breath 🙂
  • I'm in deep vacation planning mode – for May and July.  I have a week in May and 2 weeks in July.  But, I'm on a serious budget – Foxy cost me a grip!  I'm thinking somewhere in Mexico for the May vacation since I went to Cabo for Christmas and LOVED IT!  Australia is still a heavy contender for July, but its super expensive – so not so sure if we will make it down under.  Any ideas for a cheap international destination?
  • Ok, I'm going to really start twittering again – I mean it this time!  I installed TweetDeck last week.  I've had Tweeter for awhile, but for some reason I just can't get into it…. not sure why.  If you are on Twitter holla!
  • Oh damn, its raining on my new outdoor furniture!  I think I'm crazy – I know its outdoor furniture and its capable of withstanding the sun, wind and rain.  But I don't like when it gets dust on it or it rains or if the sun shines on it too much.  Yea, crazy as hell right?
  • I want the new Ninetendo DSi – but I can't justify buying one.  I have a DS Lite that I never use.  It only gets utilized when we travel.
  • Healthwise – I'm doing great!  I'm almost done with my Herceptin treatments, afterwhich I can have this freakin port removed.  The visits to my Oncologist are few and far between.  My hair started growing back in January, and surprisingly the texture is TOTALLY different then it was before it came out from chemo.  My hair has always been thick and course aka, nappy (requiring chemical relief), now its fine and curly.  I heard and read that this could happen – people's hair coming back different.  I'm having a hard time accepting this curly, soft hair on my head lol.  Its so odd to me.  I like it, but it is very odd!
  • What's everyone doing tomorrow for Easter?
  • A couple of new shots of Foxy…
